Madonna was in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday for a wedding held at the statue of Christ the Redeemer. While there she took this picture in a favela.

For reference she was heading to a giant sculpture of the moon.

People on Twitter had a fair amount of criticism for the photo. It turns out that posing with armed police in an area where the shooting of civilians is endemic is a bad idea. Who could have predicted it?
