We know 5G internet is Watch Mom's Guide to Sex 12 Onlinefast. That's kind of the whole point. However, most of us have still never used it, so it's tough to get an idea of just howfast it can be.
Thankfully, there are somewhat viral videos on Twitter to help us keep it in perspective. Verizon's George L. Koroneos shared a video of the kind of download speed the carrier's new 5G network can achieve on a Samsung Galaxy S10 5G on Thursday. The results are, well, a little mindblowing.
This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed.
The SpeedTest app (full disclosure: Mashable parent company Ziff Davis owns SpeedTest) can't even properly visualize the download speed Koroneos got, which exceeded 1,000 megabits per second. For reference, our office WiFi didn't break 100 Mbps using the same testing method.
To be clear, that video demonstrates a network that's pretty limited in availability right now on a phone that recently launched as a timed Verizon exclusive. It's going to be a while before most people in the United States see results like that.
Still, for the time being, it's nice to see that the dream is slowly becoming a reality.
